The dedicated volunteer team has been working hard this summer to bring you lots of new website articles and plan for the fall events. Check out all the new articles on the blog. Keep checking back for everything they publish this fall too!
We are very excited to have a number of events for the start of the fall! The first one is a workshop on Instructional Design facilitated by a great subject matter expert who has been in the instructional design field for over thirty years and has worked in many different industries. This September 13th workshop is currently full. If you would like to be put on the waitlist for this event, please send a message to admin [at] stcwestcoast.ca and we will let you know if a spot opens up.
Due to the success of having a table at Word Vancouver, we’ve reserved another one this year. We look forward to getting out there again and chatting to the community about Technical Communication and the value of being a member of the CWC. Drop by the table and say hello on September 28th! We are still looking for a few volunteers. If you are interested, please send a message to volunteer [at] stcwestcoast.ca.
We’ve also teamed up with Community Plain Language Services and the Editor’s Association of Canada to plan a Communication Convergence event on October 5th. Get together with writers from all different industries and perspectives to discuss our profession, the challenges we face and how we cope with the many demands placed on us. For the full agenda and registration information, check out the event notice.
If you haven’t heard, we’ve also revived the monthly coffee get-together! It’s now the Tech Comm Café and the group meets once a month at a coffee shop to network, share job leads and chat about the profession. It’s open to anyone in the Tech Comm field, interested in the Tech Comm field or looking for Tech Comm professionals. The next event is on September 10th. We hope to see you there!
We are always looking for volunteers to help out at events and with the general administration of the chapter. If you are interested in helping out, please contact the volunteer coordinator (volunteer [at] stcwestcoast.ca) and let her know what areas you are interested in. We will be looking for people to help us plan our January event which will be a full day conference with two streams: one for students and one for current professionals. If there is something you would like to see at the event, please send us a message. We love suggestions!
I hope to see you at an event this fall!
