Did you know that the STC Canada West Coast chapter is 40 this year?
The STC Canada West Coast chapter debuted in 1979 with 11 STC members banding together to form an official branch named Canadian Pacific. From there it took a few years, but they quickly amassed enough members to form an official chapter. By the early 90s the name was changed to Canada West Coast.
Since then we have seen membership rise and fall, amazing advances in technology, and many new tools and skills added to our job descriptions in addition to writing.
We have also had a lot of fun along the way, and had many great volunteers helping to keep our chapter alive and well. We have hosted a Region 7 STC conference, put out our own Coast Lines newsletter, and partnered with local schools and businesses to help technical communicators expand their careers and skillsets.
Check our website to learn more about Our 40th Anniversary, In the Beginning, and Chapter History.
We invite you to join the Canada West Coast chapter as we get together to celebrate our chapter’s history and achievements, and reflect on the past 40 years. Join us for dinner and socializing (and swag!).
We’re looking forward to seeing everyone there!
