The hottest jobs in the lower mainland are asking us more and more for the following skill: API writing. The talent pool may be self-taught; post secondary institution offerings on this skill are slim to none. While there seems to be an abundance of those types of tech writing gigs and not enough writers to fill those roles, we at the STC CWC can help you get the edge on the competition with our “Learn to write API documentation” seminar, hosted by Vancouver’s two most talented and sought after API writers.
In this interactive seminar, our writing experts will provide you with the need-to-knows to get you started:
- Working with REST APIs;
- How to write good API documentation;
- Become familiar with technologies used to create API documentation; and
- **Take home exercises for practice and practical application.
**For take home exercises, it’s recommended that attendees have the following
- Flickr account
- Twitter account
- Github account
- Personal New York Times API key (easy to do from a public URL on the site – http://developer.nytimes.com/)
- Basic free account at https://www.getdatajoy.com
- Notepad++, SublimeText, or another good text editor
